So, this whole crawling thing has totally thrown me for a loop. Gracie didn't ever crawl, or pull herself up for that matter, so I never got to experience this the first time around. So I'm constantly amazed by the places he manages to get himself to. Like....

Don't mind me. Just making some popcorn.

This Coke Zero stuff is yumm-ay! No wonder you drink so much of it!

Yay! More water to splash!

If I was just a liiiiittttlllle bit taller, I could totally climb up on this bed and get you.

Okay, he might have had a little bit of help getting up on the trampoline,
but he pulled himself up on the bar all by himself!

He absolutely hated being IN it, but thinks it's great fun to swing it....

And last, but certainly not least:

What? I'm just climbing the stairs. No big deal.

I left the room for literally 30 seconds, and Gracie starts screaming "Mommy! Wyatt's climbing the stairs!" I figured he was maybe on the first, or possibly even second stair. You know, 'cause he's new at this and all. But I came around the corner and there he was, SIX STAIRS UP. After having a small heart attack, I called Gracie to come and sit with him so he'd be safe, and I got the camera. What? That's safe!

I have this memory of coming home from school one day, super excited, telling my Mom all about my new best friend Lisa. I told her that we were going to be best friends from now on because we had so much in common. We both had Dads named Doug, we both had dogs named Spike, we both had little sisters, we both lived on farms, and - this was the kicker - we had almost the same birthday! Mine was March 25, and hers was March 30!

I remember being so excited that I could barely contain myself. I mean, come on! When you're five, those are some rock-solid reasons to be BFFs, right?

And then I remember my Mom gave me a look that left me totally puzzled. I didn't know what it meant back then, but I now recognize that look as: "That's not really how these things work kid, but you're too young to explain why, so I'm just going to keep my mouth shut and smile and nod."

Well, today, I made that face. My daughter and her friend from next door were in my living room, having that same conversation.

"You like pink? I like pink!"
"You like popsicles? I like popsicles!"
"You like doggies? I HAVE a doggie!"

I kind of laughed to myself, because the two of them have been playing together for a good 8 months now, and if you haven't figured these things out about each other yet, then what the heck HAVE you been talking about? But, I'm a grown up and I don't know anything, I guess.

I left the room to do some laundry. When I came back, they were still at it, and they were now yelling at the top of their lungs.

"YOU LIKE TO RIDE BIKES??? I LOVE TO RIDE BIKES!!!!!!"

And then:

"YOU PEE YOUR PANTS SOMETIMES? I JUST PEED MY PANTS A MINUTE AGO! Don't tell your mom though. I'm hiding it, and she'll make me go home and get dry pants."

Sports Day

Oh, I love a parade. Especially a small town parade. This was Wyatt's first.

Then, since it is also our town's Centennial Celebration, they had old fashioned games for kids. Gracie looked like a natural at the Sack Race. She won a blue ribbon!

I love our little town.

Welcome to the new digs! I figured since it had been almost a year since I last posted, and because I spent WAAAAY too many hours trying to figure out how to fix the old template with absolutely no success, it was time to do a little update. Start fresh with a new space. Let's just hope this template works better than the last one. Since I totally wrecked the last one somehow. I don't want to talk about it. Anyway, it's still there, if you want to read it. I'm just not going to update that one anymore.

But starting a new blog after a year of silence presents it's own challenges. How do you catch up almost a year's worth of living in one post? You can't. So, I'm just going to sum it up. We moved to a new town, and had a super cute baby boy. The end. Kidding! I will catch you up as I go along - although most of you that will be reading this will have followed me on Facebook, and probably know what I've been up to.

So, as a small attempt to catch you up, I give you cute pictures of Gracie and Wyatt. Gracie is somehow a giant 4-year-old who does things like make her own bookmarks in Safari, and read books to her stuffed animals in order to fall asleep at night. Which is amazing to me, because wasn't it just yesterday she was two and taking brown horse with her everywhere she went?

And my 9-month-old now crawls and pulls himself up on everything he can grab hold of, and walk himself around whatever it is that he's got hold of. It's only a matter of time before he figures out he doesn't really have to hold on. I give him about one month before he starts walking on his own and leaving destruction in his wake.
